Kalinga Mahavidyalaya is situated at G.Udayagiri, N.A.C in the district of Kandhamal. It is the third oldest premier educational institution of the tribal dominated area. The college was established in the year 1980 by the patronage of some enlightened personalities of the district with a unique mission to educate the poor tribal aspirants for Higher Education with a view to bring them to the main stream of the progressive society. Now we are proud to say that the institution has gloomed to a full-fledged institution. The college has been imparting facilities of higher education to the primitive SC/ST Students which put an end to the racial discrimination in the society. This college is also providing education to the women to minimize gender inequality in the field of education, self defence and several extra Curricular Activities. The college now has passed its infancy stage and it is matured enough in understanding the academic need of the students of this tribal community, and also experienced to produce the scholars who are able to compete with the other students of the state.

The college is now imparting Honours teaching in different subjects like Economics, History, Political Science, Logic, Education, English and Odia in U.G level of Arts and also Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany and Zoology in U.G. level of Science. Different faculty members with experience and matured teaching staff is a boon to the students as some of our old students have shown their academic excellence and placed in the administrative jobs, doctors in hospitals, Academic entrepreneurs etc. Which definitely implies the standard of the teaching in the college by the teachers.
The oldest college of the district is affiliated to Berhampur University and also to the UGC under 2f and 12b and also accredited c+ by NAAC during 2007. The college is also a hub center and it observes and supervises the examinations of other three colleges.
We are proud that four teaching staff including the Principal are having PhD Degree and two other staff have M.Phil degree which paves a long way ahead in grooming academic excellence.
Five faculty members of our college Dr. Dillip Mohapatra, Lt. Duti Krushan Khandual, Dr. Nalini Kumar Panigrahi, Dr. P.K.Das, And Sri. R. Bag have published many papers in the national, international, state and university level journals. They have presented papers in the seminars and conferences. They have also been invited by other colleges to deliver their lectures.
One of the faculty member of our college Dr. P.K. Das, has received certificate of appreciation towards 19 years contribution in the field of education (Engineering Colleges) from Netaji Smruti Sansada, Jagatsinghpur, Odisha on the Occasion of Netaji Jayanti on 26th Janurary 2017.
Two Faculty members of our college Dr. N.K.Panigarhi and Dr. P.K.Das have published many books under different publishers. These books are now under the syllabus of BPUT, Utkal University, Berhampur University and other universities of the state.
The college has 3 units of NSS, one YRC unit, One NCC unit, Self Defence programme for women, Equal opportunity cell, Anti sexual Harassment cell, Anti-ragging cell, Disciplinary committee and Electoral Committee.
Many of the staff members have attended orientation and refresher courses.
“Healthy body creates healthy mind” The college focuses on importance to athletic excellence of the students. Keeping this in mind, the college provides games facility to the students. Many a times our students have won college and university level championship in different games.
The college has installed CCTV for the smooth conduct of Examination. One of our faculty member, Dr. N.K. Panigarhi, One of his PhD scholar has submitted PhD thesis under Berhampur University to be Awarded shortly.
